The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has suspended the license of Opennet as an internet service provider, due to failing to pay its debts to the state after 7 days appointed time.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications on February 10 issued a joint statement, leaving time for the internet service provider company, Opennet, for 7 days to pay off debts owed by the state.

King Technologies (Opennet) owed more than $ 6 million in public debt from 2017 to 2019, and the company paid more than $ 1.3 million dollars only.

The precautionary to be taken during the period of suspension of Opennet’s license requires the company to stop providing services to new customers and doing business with other partner companies. And the implementation of this measure will not affect the use of Internet services, including the WIFI services of customers.

There are currently 38 other licensed and operating internet service providers in Cambodia. Therefore, the termination of Opennet will not affect the market conditions, prices, and internet access options.

Until now, there has been no official announcement from King Technologies (Opennet), as many customers are worried about the use of the company’s Internet services.
