The meeting was held for the purpose of discussing the work to eradicate malaria in the Kingdom of Cambodia, focusing on the issues as follows.
Continue to focus on reducing malaria, both falciparum, and vivace. In fact, we note that the number of malaria cases has been reduced by 97.5% from 2011 to 2021. The last step in the eradication of malaria is the most important step in achieving the goal of eradicating malaria by 2025. And maintaining sustainability in malaria-endemic areas, which existed before the implementation of the malaria eradication program. Then continue to reduce malaria-infected areas in the country: by reducing the number of cases and cases of malaria until there are no reported cases of malaria (zero cases) by strengthening this work at the local level. More malaria and use of monitoring system (MIS) that facilitates the collection and entry of data in a timely manner.
The Secretary of State stressed the efforts of the Malaria Eradication Program in Cambodia, stating that with the highest attention to the health and well-being of the Cambodian people. The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia initiates and officially approves the implementation of the National Malaria Eradication Strategy in the Kingdom of Cambodia 2011-2025, which is adopted and sets out activities and guidelines to promote actively eradicate malaria for partner teams and funding agencies.
As a result of the 10 years of implementation of the National Malaria Eradication Strategy from 2011 to 2021. The malaria death rate indicator has been completed with no deaths from the disease since 2018 and confirmed that Cambodia achieved success 3 years before the target set.
