Minister Wang Yi said that China will, as always, firmly support Cambodia in following a development path that suits its national conditions, firmly support Prime Minister Hun Sen and the Cambodian people in defending national sovereignty and national dignity, and firmly support the Cambodian People’s Party. He said that as China and Cambodia are a comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation and a community with a shared future, Cambodia-China relations and cooperation remain strong despite uncertainties and rapid developments in the regional and international situation.

Prime Minister Hun Sen thanked the Chinese side for its support to Cambodia, and Cambodia has made arrangements to ensure that Cambodia-China relations will remain stable under the leadership of the successor without any changes.

Regarding the Cambodian People’s Party’s election of Hun Manet as the “successor” for the next Prime Minister in the future, Minister Wang Yi announced that China will continue to support the successor of the Cambodian People’s Party strongly. And it is an important key to deepening the friendly relations between China and Cambodia.

According to Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Wang Yi not only announced his continued support for Cambodia’s successive prime minister, and also expressed his appreciation for Hun Manet’s leadership. but also highly praised him for his vision and maturity like his father. It is worth mentioning that the 43rd Central Committee Congress of the Cambodian People’s Party was held on December 24, 2021, and Hun Manet was voted unanimously as the “future prime minister candidate”.

Hun Manet is the eldest son of Prime Minister Hun Sen, deputy commander of the Cambodian Royal Army and commander of the army, a member of the Central Standing Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party, and the leader of the Central Youth Working Group.

Prime Minister Hun Sen went to Vietnam on June 20, 1977, when Hun Sen’s wife Bun Rani was 5 months pregnant, seeking Vietnamese reinforcements to overthrow the Khmer Rouge headed by Pol Pot. On October 20, 1977, after Hong Mane was born, he has been hiding with his mother in Meinmot District, Kampong Cham Province for nearly two years.

On January 7, 1979, after the Khmer Rouge was overthrown, Hun Manet and his mother went to Phnom Penh on February 24, 1979, to reunite with his father, Prime Minister Hun Sen. After the family was reunited, Hun Manet received meticulous care, including his studies. Hun Manet is an excellent student who studies hard. He won first place in the national mathematics subject in the 1992-1993 academic year.

After graduating from Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Hun Manet was sent to the United States by her father to study at the age of 16. During his study abroad, Hun Manet lived independently. Although he did not have his parents to supervise him, he was very self-disciplined. As a Cambodian with noble character and a love of learning, he graduated from a famous military academy in the United States.

Hun Manet was initially thought to be studying in the direction Hun Sen planned to take up important positions in the country in the future. However, this is not the case. On December 23, 2021, Prime Minister Hun Sen leaked a secret letter written by Hun Manet at the age of 16 through his official Facebook page.

The secret letter revealed that when Hun Manet was studying in the United States, in addition to studying the military, he also studied for a doctorate in political science and economics, and asked his father not to tell others. The extensive knowledge of Hongmane has economic, political, and military knowledge.

In addition, Hun Manet also has many years of experience in practical work under the framework of the party, the army, and humanitarianism. He has received training and experiences from another great professor, his father, Prime Minister Hun Sen. Through these efforts, Hun Manet is regarded as a well-deserved and powerful successor to the Prime Minister of Cambodia, who can ensure peace and stability in Cambodia and bring continuous progress and prosperity to Cambodia.

All this allowed the Cambodian People’s Party to announce Hun Manet as the future prime minister candidate and received strong support from the Cambodian People’s Party leadership and party members. Whether it is leaders, party members, the Cambodian people, civil servants, and the army, they all expressed their support for Hun Manet to be the future prime minister candidate.
