No lockdown even over 7,000 Omicron cases confirmed according to the Prime Minister. Prime Minister Hun Sen said when presiding over the groundbreaking ceremony of the Phnom Penh sewage treatment plant, Cambodia will not take measures to lock down the country or the city.
Hun Sen pointed out that last year because the people had not been vaccinated against the new crown, the government had to “lockdown the city” to prevent the spread of the epidemic. This year, nearly 90% of the people have been vaccinated against the new crown. The government will not adopt the “lockdown the city” measures like last year. Please don’t worry and don’t stock up.
He also called on all pharmacies to sell the anti-coronavirus oral drug Molnupiravir at a reasonable price and not to raise the price arbitrarily. Then he also urged the Ministry of Health to take strict control measures against pharmacies selling counterfeit (unaccredited) medicines to ensure people’s lives, health, and safety.
On the day, he also addressed that Cambodia added 598 new crown cases yesterday (February 21), all of which were Omicron cases, and 2 new deaths. He revealed that his daughter and five grandchildren have also been infected with the new crown pneumonia recently. He reminded the public not to underestimate the Omicron virus, to take preventive measures, and to actively vaccinate against the new crown.
Today, the Ministry of Health (24th) reported that on the 23rd, 466 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia were added, 324 new cases were cured and discharged, and 3 new deaths (one of which was not vaccinated against the new crown pneumonia).
