The Australian government has pledged to help Cambodia update engineering standards for infrastructure. It is understood that these standards have assisted Cambodia in defining and building various types of infrastructure over the past 20 years.
Pablo Kang, Australia’s ambassador to Cambodia, said this during a meeting with the Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol. At the meeting, he implored the Australian government to assist in updating Cambodia’s road and bridge construction technical standards to adapt to new technologies and the impact of climate change.
He revealed that in order to achieve connectivity with all countries in the Southeast Asian region, the ministry is planning to build a multifunctional transport system, and to achieve this, the authorities have created 330 related projects that will be implemented over 10 years with a total project value of $48 billion.
Pablo Kang also pledged at the meeting that Australia will expand its aid to Cambodia, in addition to assisting in updating infrastructure engineering standards, it will also assist in Cambodia’s transition to electric vehicles and develop a wastewater treatment strategy.
