The traffic rule in Cambodia has been updated again. The driver’s license deduction system will be implemented in September. If all the points are deducted, the driver’s license will be revoked, and the test can be retaken after at least half a year. Old drivers must pay attention to the relevant traffic rules.

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia, revealed on the 28th that the driver’s license deduction mechanism will be implemented in September this year, and the Ministry will cooperate with the Ministry of the Interior to implement related matters. Each driver’s license has a total of 12 points, and Cambodian law enforcement officers will deduct 1 to 6 points from drivers who violate the regulations under the “Road Traffic Law” according to the seriousness of the corresponding circumstances.

After all 12 points are deducted, the driver’s license will be revoked; if you want to get a driver’s license again, you must retake the test, and you can apply for the test after at least half a year. It’s also to remind all drivers that they must carry the originals of three important documents: vehicle inspection documents, car licenses, and driver’s licenses.

It should be mentioned that last year, Cambodian Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol held a meeting and stated that the “Driver’s License” APP will be launched early next year, which can realize driving license scanning and deduction and provide online inquiry of driver’s license scores deduction. He said the process of deducting points from a driver’s license will be done through an app on a smartphone, and the traffic police can automatically deduct points from the driver’s license and automatically notify the driver’s license issuing agency and drivers who violate traffic laws.

The scores are deducted for violations such as not wearing a seatbelt, speeding, drink-driving, or breaking traffic lights. Some drivers in Cambodia have poor traffic awareness, resulting in frequent traffic accidents. Once the deduction system is implemented, the traffic situation will be improved to a certain extent.
