This March, the Ministry of Education plans to launch an in-depth thinking program called “Think! Think!”, Japan’s No. 1 curriculum at Preah Norodom Primary School in Phnom Penh, one of the eight target schools in the 6 provinces.

Think! Think! is a private-public partnership between the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Ministry of Education, and Wonderland. A new science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) curriculum develops critical thinking skills, social skills, creativity, and motivation. And soft skills for students, 21st-century skills.

According to a meeting with Mr. Shinji Yanagawa, JICA Representative in Cambodia, on March 4, Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, said that the Think! Think! is a great program to cultivate deep thinking and soft skills to help students learn new skills needed in the 21st century. He expressed a survey on the program that the use of this program has a positive effect on math scores, intelligence, motivation, and confidence.

A press release from the Ministry of Education states on March 4: “Your Excellency has introduced this program and thanked you for your support and JICA, which provides opportunities for students in public schools to study quality Japanese programs.”

JICA has been running a refresher course in Toul Kork called Think! Think! Learning Lab to provide the public with the opportunity to access this program. It helps develop in-depth thinking, social skills, creativity, motivation, self-confidence, and self-esteem.

In April 2020, the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with JICA, launched the Think! Think! To provide children with electronic learning opportunities to improve their thinking, intelligence, and math skills in some schools. The program’s launch comes when Cambodia faces an outbreak of COVID-19, and children can enjoy learning about it. By yourself with family members at home.

After being launched in some schools in the year 2020, finally, this program will be launched in primary schools. And the Preah Norodom Primary School in Phnom Penh, the first one of the eight target schools in six provinces by March 2022. At the launch of this program, the Minister of Education, Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, said: “Think! “Think!” is an excellent curriculum that boosts children’s IQ, deep thinking, and social skills.
